In July 2018 BCA launched, Impilo Yesizwe TB Project in eThekwini district, KwaMashu township. The project is funded by USAID- Tuberculosis South Africa Project. The intent for the initiative is to assist in the eradication plan for TBs’ vigorous statistics in the province. The organisation’s slogan “TB is preventable and curable” has been but a tool to encourage diagnosed patients in their fight of this ghastly disease.
According to Pastor Thandi Gumbi, Project manager for the Impilo yeSizwe, “One of BCA ‘s main fundamentals in the project is to educate the community about TB, largely to annihilate misconceptions and myths about this disease. Awareness campaigns have been carried-out to this end. BCA further partners with TB patients in their expedition to fight the disease by having 20 Community Care Workers to support patients to take treatment and monitor them through out their prescribed treatment intake period. The project has been highly significant for the organisation as it very much makes parallel the objective of the organisation which is to “Touch Today and Change Tomorrow.
